Corona Resort & Casino Phu Quoc
Bai Dai, Ganh Dau, Phu Quoc · Phu Quoc · Vietnam
The casino that opened Vietnam's domestic market, and the only place in the country where large-field live poker reliably happens.
Corona sits at Bai Dai on the north-west coast of Phu Quoc, and it matters for two separate reasons.
It is the casino Vietnamese citizens can play in
Corona was the first property admitted to the pilot created by Decree 03/2017/ND-CP, from 2019, and when the central government reviewed the programme on 26 November 2025 it converted that arrangement into permanent authorisation. The Grand Ho Tram received a five-year pilot at the same time and the planned Van Don resort the same five years for when it opens; Corona's is the only permanent one. Eligible means, under Article 12 of the decree, at least 21 years old with full civil capacity and proof of current income of at least 10 million dong a month, with entry ticketed at 1 million dong per 24 continuous hours or 25 million dong a month, and only dong exchanged for chips.
That domestic access is why a festival here can fill. It is the structural reason Phu Quoc has a poker calendar and Hanoi does not.
It is where the Vietnam Poker Tour plays
VPT Championship III ran from 6 to 18 May 2026 in the resort's Crystal Ballroom: ninety scheduled events, a series guarantee of 66 billion dong (about 2.5 million US dollars), 26 billion dong guaranteed for the Main Event, High Rollers, dedicated Pot-Limit Omaha tables and a long tail of affordable side events. It took 5,197 entries. Championship II, over 31 October to 10 November 2025, guaranteed 50 billion dong; a standalone VPT event in April 2025 guaranteed 35 billion. The tour has grown on this island three editions running. The Asian Poker Tour has also played here, most recently in November 2024.
The floor, and a warning about the word poker
The operator gives around 147 gaming tables, 157 electronic table games and more than 760 slot machines across roughly 18,800 square metres, with a VIP area and a private Sky Casino on the eighth floor. Its main-floor game list names Texas Hold'em Poker — but it names three-card poker, Caribbean stud, Russian poker and Niu Niu in the same breath, and all four of those are dealer-banked games played against the house on a fixed pay table. Treat the main-floor Hold'em listing with the same caution until it is confirmed.
What we can verify is the festival poker in the Crystal Ballroom. A standing year-round cash game with a published rake schedule is not confirmed: an independent room listing shows no regular tournament calendar at all, and several of the operator's own deeper pages refuse automated requests. If you are planning a trip, build it around a VPT festival date rather than assuming a game will be running.
