Inaugural WSOP Super Circuit Canada smashes Playground's field record
The first WSOP Super Circuit Canada at Playground in Kahnawà:ke, running 26 August to 12 September 2026 with more than CA$14 million in guarantees across 18 ring events, drew 3,484 entries to its Mini Main Event — the biggest field in the room's history and roughly 76% above the previous record of 1,978. The CA$5,000 Main Event carried a CA$10 million guarantee, with Daniel Negreanu on hand for the ceremonial first shuffle. Playground hosts a regular WSOP Circuit stop from 2 to 17 November.
Playground has spent a decade building itself into Canada's poker capital, and the numbers from its first Super Circuit show why the WSOP chose it. By the end of the opening events the series had already generated CA$5.78 million in prize pools, with early ring winners including James Pillon (CA$335,000) and Daniel Haim (CA$185,000). The Mini Main Event's 3,484 entries across five flights set a new house record. The Super Circuit is the top tier of the WSOP's international programme, and Canada's edition sat between the room's May Circuit stop and the November Circuit that follows. For Canadian players the practical takeaway is simple: the biggest live series in the country now happen in Kahnawà:ke three times a year, and online qualifiers run on GGPoker.
