Limp
Also: open-limp, limping, limp-raise
Entering the pot pre-flop by just calling the big blind instead of raising. Open-limping is generally weak; limping behind other limpers, or limping short-stacked in tournaments, has legitimate uses.
Example. Three players limp in a €1/€2 live game and the button raises to €15 to isolate them.
In modern no-limit play, open-limping from anywhere but the small blind is rare among strong players because it gives up the initiative and invites isolation raises. Limping from the small blind, limp-raising with a short stack, and limping in very loose live games with speculative hands are the exceptions. Short-deck and Omaha games see far more limping.
