A straight draw missing one card in the middle, with four outs. It is far weaker than an open-ended draw (eight outs) but frequently used as a semi-bluff.

Example. Holding 9-8 on a J-7-2 board, any ten makes a straight — a gutshot.

With four outs a gutshot hits about 8.5% on the next card and roughly 17% by the river. A 'double gutshot' has two different inside cards that make a straight and therefore eight outs, the same as an open-ender but much better disguised.
