Hossein Ensan
Münster, Germany
Hossein Ensan was the first German to win the WSOP Main Event. Born in Iran and long settled in Münster, he came to poker late and won the 2019 Main Event at 55, beating 8,569 players for $10,000,000 — still the biggest cash by a German player in the event's history, and a title Koray Aldemir would add for Germany two years later. Ensan was already an EPT champion by then, having won EPT Prague in 2015 for $825,151 and finished third at EPT Barcelona in 2014, and he keeps going deep: 13th in the 2026 WSOP Main Event for $510,000 and third in the EPT Paris High Roller in February 2026. Seventh on the German all-time list with nearly $16 million in live earnings.
