Casinos Poland opens a second Wrocław casino on the Rynek — and quietly becomes a seven-casino group
Poland's largest land-based casino operator has opened a new casino in Wrocław's Hotel Korona, at Oławska 2 on the corner of the Rynek, its second in the city. The operator announced it on its own homepage without giving a date. The addition takes Casinos Poland to seven casinos — Warsaw, Kraków, Katowice, Łódź, Bielsko-Biała and now two in Wrocław — while the group overview published by its controlling shareholder, Century Casinos, still describes six and omits Kraków entirely.
Casinos Poland, controlled by the Colorado-listed Century Casinos, has added a casino in the Hotel Korona in Wrocław, at ul. Oławska 2 / ul. Rynek 29. It is the group's second in the city, alongside the long-standing casino in the Hotel Polonia, and about as central an address as Wrocław offers.
The announcement sits on the operator's own homepage as a short notice that the casino is open. No opening date is given, so there is none to report.
The more interesting detail is the gap between the operator's site and its parent's. Casinos Poland's own casino list now shows seven venues, including a Kraków casino in the Hotel Dwór Kościuszko. Century Casinos' Poland overview still states the group operates six casinos and does not mention Kraków at all; it also carries an older Wrocław Polonia address than the operator does. Anyone working from the investor page is working from a stale map.
What this does and does not tell poker players
Not much, and that is the point worth recording. Casinos Poland publishes no game list and no poker schedule for any of its venues. Century's overview names the table games as American Roulette, Black Jack, Baccarat in Warsaw and 'Casinos Poland Poker', without saying whether that last one is player-versus-player poker with a rake or a dealer-banked table game. Until one of them says, a new Casinos Poland casino is not automatically a new poker room.
Poland's documented live poker remains the Polish Poker Series league, which plays in clubs, pubs and billiard halls across twenty-six cities — in Wrocław, at Cards Restaurant rather than at either casino.
For the record
The same homepage carries a second notice worth knowing: the Casinos Poland group states that it does not operate, and never has operated, an online casino. Sites trading on the name are not it.
